05/07/2005 - RHS TATTON FLOWER SHOW 2005 (Knutsford - Cheshire)
On 20th July the gardening spotlight shines on Cheshire. We are sponsoring Coniston waller, Andrew Loudon for his show garden exhibit "Escape"
This garden is designed to demonstrate what can be achieved with a little imagination to brighten up neglected spaces within a building such as a school, office block or hospital. The garden offers a means of escape from the florescent lights and re-circulated air within the building, to a fresh outdoor space without the hustle and bustle of work or study.
It contains an L shaped walkway under a green roof with lush herbaceous planting surrounding a lozenge shape slate water feature that provides a visual amenity to lift the spirits of the visitors. The back wall is constructed from sandstone with large water washed river stones protruding slightly to give a tactile element to the journey between the two spaces that the corridor links. Famous or interesting quotes will be carved into the sandstone flags that pave this area to add interest.
At this year's Chelsea Flower Show, Andrew won a Silver Guilt Medal for his courtyard garden.
We shall have a hospitality tent & display next to the garden (78a) . Do call to see us if you come to the show.

This is a spacious, very comfortable period Georgian house adjoining two other cottages overlooking the fields and Church Beck. This beautiful old house has recently had many of its attractive historic features re-exposed, including its period fireplaces, pine floors & doors and original slate floors to the kitchen. It has early associations with the family who developed the nineteenth century Coppermines, and was the home in the early twentieth century to the famous lakes artist Alfred Heaton Cooper - who at that time renamed it "Sondheim" It is personally cared for by the owner, who has lavished much care on its restoration and has recently installed gas central heating
